Here’s what I’m all about
Mike first exhibited prowess as a magical prodigy when he was only 9 years old, performing shows for his parents, their friends and anyone else who would sit and watch. Blah blah blah…Ok, ok, enough talking in the third person. I’m pretty sure you don’t want to read a full on bio on a random magician you’re thinking about hiring for your event (and if you do, it’ll be coming out in paperback soon).
Below you’ll find that I’ve interviewed myself. Yes, myself. Because I’m THAT good…And if you happen to have any other questions about me going to magic camp (yeah, I went) or how I cried when I messed up tricks when I was little, just let me know and I’ll tell you the whooolllleeee story.
AN INTERVIEW WITH, MYSELF.
Mike, let me start by saying, you are an extremely handsome man.
Why thank you Mike- the key is to stay indoors. No outdoor activity for more than five minutes at a time. Just tanning via the computer screen.
Ahh, I see- good to know. So, how’d you get into magic?
Well, it’s funny you ask. When I was about 9, I saw a magician at camp where I grew up in LA. Day camp, not sports camp (magician + sports = bad news). After the show, he showed us all how to a trick. It was how to pull a rope through your neck. In theory this was really cool. In practice, it was not. But to me it was. And I performed this trick for every single adult I knew- and they all acted really impressed. Were they? Probably not. But I loved the excitement of knowing something that adults, who told me what to do every day, had no idea how to do. And I didn’t have to tell them. Take that, Mom and Dad.
So how’d you become famous?
Oh Mike- you’re too kind…I wouldn’t say I’m famous per se, but let’s just say a couple people have seen me on YouTube. Anyway, when I was 13, I became one of the youngest members ever admitted to the Junior Program at the Magic Castle- a world famous private institution dedicated to furthering the art of sleight of hand and magic. I’ve now been a member for 10 years. Since then I’ve become a regular, performing adult member there, and at private parties and corporate events all over the world. And most recently, on the Ellen DeGeneres show! I perform mostly in Los Angeles and surrounding areas, but in the past few years I’ve performed in London, Poland and Ecuador. And on a boat. Twice.
Sure, sure, but are you any good?
I’d rather not toot my own horn, butttt I will let other people do the talking:
Here’s where people have posted reviews of my performances: Magic Mike’s Yelp Review Page (14 5/5 star reviews and counting!)
I’m a professional, seasoned performer and stand-up/improv comedian. Apart from private parties, some of my corporate clients include: CBS, Facebook, Ford, Nestle, NBC, State Farm Insurance, HSBC Bank, University of Southern California, Loyola Marymount University, and Baxter Medical Corporation.
I received the Magic Castle Presidential Citation for outstanding community service in 2002, 2003, and 2004.
I was the 2007 Magic Castle Junior Achievement Award Winner; an award for excellence in performance amongst the young, up and coming magician members.
I was a featured performer at the 2009 Future Stars week at the Magic Castle.
Lastly, my Mom once told me I was the best magician she’d ever seen. And she wouldn’t tell a lie to her son, that she loves oh so much.
I think we’re out of time- I have to, uh, you know, wash my hair…So all in all, why should people hire you?
Because my goal is honestly to do more than just magic, but to help bring the party. That’s why I do magic- because I love to help people have an awesome time. Since I’m younger than most magicians, I’ve been told I bring an energy to the room, and your party, that not many of the older magicians can. I do it by entertaining people through contemporary magic and non-cheesy comedy (so, I won’t have a top hat and doves telling old grandpa stories). I perform WITH people instead of TO people which allows people to enjoy themselves a lot more. I try to make my magic relate to people- so it’s less of magician performing for laymen, and more like a hilarious conversation with an entertaining friend. It’s fun, it’s different, and it’ll make you look good, and your event stick in peoples’ minds for a long time to come. Thanks Mike!
